eSeed: United or Untied

UNITED OR UNTIED
Read Ephesians 5:22-33

If you change the position of one letter in the word “united,” you get another word, “untied.” That letter is “I.”

One couple was about to be untied. The wife prayed, “Lord, please take one of us home to heaven, so I can go and live with my mother.”

The root of most problems between the husband and wife is sin, and the root of all sin is selfishness.

When the love of the husband for his wife is sacrificial, and she loves her husband in a satisfying way, they’ll overcome selfishness.

As they submit to the Lord and each other, they’ll live for each other and for the Lord. Then they’ll stay united.

Prayer: We commit to Thee, heavenly Father, our lives and our loved ones. Take away our selfishness and arm our
wills with Thy strength. Fill our hearts with Thy love so that we will always trust Thee and be more like Thee each day: through Christ. Amen.

eSeed: Stars Or Skyrockets

STARS OR SKYROCKETS
Read John 1:12

Some time ago we witnessed a gigantic display of fireworks. The skyrockets rose from the ground high into the sky, producing a beautiful burst of colored stars. They floated about and fell to the ground.

They were prettier than the stars, but different from them. The skyrockets were the work of men. The stars were the work of God.

We have many religious skyrockets. They respond to an invitation and live a lovely life, but soon they disappear from the church.

Why? They were man-made skyrockets, not God-made stars.

Are you a skyrocket or a star?

Prayer: We desire, Father, a consecration that is complete, a compassion that is Christlike, and a confession that is courageous. Grant that we will do nothing which will bring sorrow to Thee, a stumbling block to others, or a shame to ourselves: through Christ. Amen.

eSeed: God's Thunderclaps

GOD’S THUNDERCLAPS
Read Romans 1:18

A little boy refused to eat his cereal one morning. His mother begged him, and finally threatened him by saying, “If you don’t eat your cereal, God will be angry.”

Suddenly a storm arose. As the thunderclaps roared, the boy said to his mother, “I didn’t think God would make such a big fuss over a little bowl of cereal.”

Sometimes your medicine bottle has on it, “Shake well before using.” That’s what God must do with some people. He has to shake them.

God loves you. That’s why He shakes you. He wants to change you and make your life beautiful.

Let Him do it, won’t you?

Prayer: Make us to know, heavenly Father, the newness of life which only Thou canst give. Cleanse our hearts and our hands, our mouths and our manners and keep us clean. Let us experience and enjoy Thy victorious life: through
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

eSeed: Just A Second

JUST A SECOND
Read Matthew 28:20

There are sixty seconds in a minute; 86,400 seconds in a day; 604,800 seconds in a week; a million seconds in about 11½ days.

During each one of those seconds God's eyes are upon you, watching each thing that you do and the things that go on around you.

His ears are open to each thing that you say and especially your prayers.

You can confidently count upon His constant companionship, even when you don't see Him or feel Him near.

Hear Him as He says to you, "Lo, I am with you always."

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for being near to us each day. We ask Thee to make us more acutely sensitive and more eagerly responsive to the prompting and persuasions of Thy Spirit to be more like Thy Son. Help us to manifest His likeness in all our desires and deeds: in His name. Amen.

eSeed: Honor Before Holdings

HONOR BEFORE HOLDINGS
Read 2 Corinthians 8:21 TLB

Tracy was a single mother. She was poor, but she worked hard to clothe and feed her family.

One day she was given some used clothes. Going through the pockets, she found $1,000.00.

As desperately as she needed money, she returned it to the donor.

“Why didn’t you keep the money?” asked a friend.

“It wasn’t mine to keep,” she answered.

Some friends, who heard what happened, gave her gifts that equaled that amount.

God honors the person who put godliness above gain and morality above money.

Blessed is the one who’s living in the truth of God and walking in the path of righteousness.

Prayer: Father, deliver us from all that is dishonest and disgraceful. Make us to be fair and faithful. Show us how to conquer and crucify every insurgent impulse and inordinate inclination: in Christ. Amen.

eSeed: Your Life Can Be Beautiful

YOUR LIFE CAN BE BEAUTIFUL
Read 2 Corinthians 5:17

James Kraft, the cheese magnate, was a collector of jade.

One day he invited a friend to see his jade collection. At first the man thought there was nothing unusual.

But Mr. Kraft turned off the lights and turned on an ultraviolet light. The rocks turned into gems of beauty.

Everyone, to our Lord, is an undiscovered gem.

Peter, a tough-talking fisherman, became one of the world’s greatest preachers.

The woman at the well, a dirty tool for dirtier men, became a great soul winner.

Christ can live in you and your life can be beautiful.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be the people Thou hast planned for us to be; holy and happy people, diligent in work and devoted in worship. Fill our lives with Thy presence and power: through Christ. Amen.

eSeed: Snail Mail

SNAIL MAIL
Read Mark 16:15

It has been reported that a letter sent to a town in Germany in 1718 was delivered in 2004, arriving 286 years later.

The possession of the gospel involves the obligation to share it with others. But haven’t we been just as slow in taking the good news to everyone everywhere?

I care not where I must go, or how I must live, or what I must endure, so that I may preach the gospel to everyone everywhere.

The Bible says, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Because the Lord commands us to go, I’m going now. Care to join?

Prayer: Inspire us, heavenly Father, to go out into the world and to win the lost to Thee at any cost. Teach us how to reach out and woo others to Thee. Show us how to live so they can see Christ in us and want Him as their Savior: in His precious name. Amen.

eSeed: Celebrity Parrot

CELEBRITY PARROT
Read Numbers 32:23

A parrot in El Salvador has become a celebrity. It helped police catch a gang of thieves that was breaking into homes.

The robbers stole the parrot when they robbed a house. When the getaway car was stopped by police, the bird squawked repeatedly, “Robbery! Robbery!”

The police became suspicious of the occupants. They checked the trunk of the car, and found the stolen goods.

It’s impossible to sin without being found out. The Bible says, “Be sure your sin will find you out.”

But the Lord is the only available antidote for sin. He’ll not only curb it, but He’ll cleanse you and cure your sinning.

Prayer: Father, have pity upon us and take away the guilt and grief of our sins. Wash us, cleanse us, forgive us, for we have sinned against Thee. Create in us a new, clean heart, filled with right desires: through Christ. Amen.

eSeed:Beau's Billboard

BEAU’S BILLBOARD
Read Psalm 127:1

Lance is single. His marketing friends came up with a novel idea for helping him find a wife. They put his picture up on a billboard on the interstate highway with the caption below, “I’m Lance. Let’s go out!”

Better than trusting in marketing is trusting in the Master to find a companion. Finding the right mate in life is very important, and so is being the right mate.

It takes character, not commerce; love not lust; praying, not partying; God’s will to be sought, not man’s way to bebought.

The Bible says, “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, inspire us to choose what Thou dost desire for our lives. Give us the will to do what Thou dost command of each of us. Bless us with a clear vision of Thy truth and a fearless faith in Thy word: through
Christ, our Lord. Amen.

eSeed: Arrivederci!

ARRIVEDERCI!
Read John 8:36

Naples has a novel plan to overcome their petty-theft crimes. They plan to ban the scooters of the thieves.

The thieves snatch purses and wallets of unsuspecting people and zoom away on their scooters.

But the best cure for these crimes is Christ. He’s the cure for wickedness and weakness, for meanness and miserableness, for temptation and trouble, for corruption and crime.

Some people caress their sins – that’s fatal. Others confess them – that’s biblical.

When you confess your sins, our Lord will cleanse you and cure your sinning. Instead of being overcome by sin, you’ll overcome sin.

Prayer: Too long, Father, have we lived for self, sin and Satan. Save us from our wrongdoings and wasted years. Deliver us from the guilt, the grip and the grief of our sins, and make us completely Thine: through Christ. Amen.

eSeed: Make The Most Of It

MAKE THE MOST OF IT
Read Colossians 4:5 TLB

A pastor was conducting a wedding and he asked the groom, “Wilt thou have this woman to be thy wedded wife?”

“Yes, sir,” he answered. “That’s what I came here for.”

It’s good to be enthusiastic whether for worshiping, working, or weddings. You can do anything with it, nothing
without it.

Enthusiasm begets boldness, kindles confidence, destroys doubt, and makes an average person superior.

Christianity must be a passion, not a pastime; a calling not a career. St. Paul said, “Make the most of your chances to tell others the good news.”

Prayer: Father, we pray that in character and conduct we may constrain others to come to Thee. May all our
aspirations and actions be directed to rebound to Thy glory and honor and good of others. Make us trustful and triumphant: through Christ. Amen.

WEIGHT WATCHER
Read Ephesians 5

A woman said to a lawyer, “I’m a nervous wreck and I've lost my appetite. I want a divorce.”

“Now?” asked the lawyer.

“Let’s wait,” she answered, “until I’m down to 118.”

For a happy marriage, come to Christ. He’ll be with you to save and strengthen you, protect and provide for you. With Him you’ll win.

Keep courting. Live love, express love, and show love.

Build your home on the Bible. The Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible.

Practice prayer. It’s a problem-solver, a need-supplier, and a strength-obtainer.

Prayer: We come to Thee now, heavenly Father. Make our lives holy and our homes heavenly. Grant that it
will be our will to obey and please Thee, and our joy to serve and sacrifice for Thee and our loved ones: through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

eSeed: Speed Through The Bible

SPEED THROUGH THE BIBLE
Read 2 Timothy 2:15

If you read two chapters every day, you can read the entire New Testament in less that twenty weeks.

If you read three chapters a day and five chapters on Sunday, you can read the entire Bible in fifty-two weeks.

But according to an article in Word Magazine, Broadman & Holman publishing firm plans to release soon what it calls the “Light Speed Study Bible,” for $30.00.

The company promises customers can “read every word of the entire Bible in 24 hours or less – with good comprehension.”

The Bible – let’s know it in our heads, stow it in our hearts and show it in our lives.

Prayer: Open our eyes, Father, to see the wonderful things in Thy word. Help us to act on Thy precepts and to appropriate Thy promises. Make us doers of Thy word: in Christ’s wonderful name. Amen.

eSeed: Not Afraid To Die

NOT AFRAID TO DIE
Read Philippians 1:21

The Berkshire Boys were caught off guard by the Confederates. Rushing across the bridge, the commanding officer realized that he had left his sword in his tent.

Johnny Ring, a teenager said, “Let me go get it, sir.” Away he ran, even though the bridge was on fire. He got the
sword, but was badly burned.

As he lay dying, the colonel said, “I’m sorry, Johnny.”

“Don’t worry, sir,” cried Johnny, “I’m not afraid to die. Are you?”

“Yes,” said the colonel. Dropping to his knees, he received Jesus.

Are you afraid to die?

Prayer: We thank Thee, heavenly Father, that Thou art preparing us for heaven, and preparing heaven for us.
Help us to win our family and friends to Thee so that they will enjoy heaven with Thee and us: we ask all these things in Thy precious name. Amen.

eSeed: Lucky

LUCKY
Read Matthew 11:28

An interesting ad appeared in a newspaper. It read, “Lost! Eleven-year-old dog. Brown hair with bald spots. Right front leg crooked. Right eye missing. Left ear bitten off. Answers to the name ‘Lucky.’”

The Lord looks for us like the owner looks for his dog – not for what we can give Him, but for what He can give us.

He comes to us when we’re lame to make us leap; when we’re sightless to make us see; when we’re withered to
make us whole.

He says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

Come to Him, won’t you?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come to Thee and ask that Thou banish from our hearts all worry and wickedness.
Grant that, victorious with Thy victory, pure with Thy purity, and living with Thy life, we may enjoy Thy rest: through Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

eSeed: World's Smallest Church

WORLD’S SMALLEST CHURCH
Read Hebrews 10:25 TLB

There’s a church in the Channel Islands that has room for only the minister and a congregation of two.

The meaning of the church, whether it is big or little, is that Christians are those who are called out.

The mission of the church is to preach the Gospel.

The message of the church is the Gospel that Christ died for our sins and that He rose for our justification.

The ministry of the church is to observe all things the Lord commands.

I am a member of a church. My past is forgiven, my present is exciting, and my future is secure.

The Bible says, “Let us not neglect our church meetings, as some people do.”

Prayer:
Give us, Father, a love for Thy house. Grant that laziness and lukewarmness may not stop us from attending. Grant that disappointment and discouragement may not make us give up: in Christ’s name. Amen.
